Our 100% non-paid volunteer fire department is committed to providing quality and rapid response for fires, emergency medical care, ice rescue, river rescue, traffic accidents, and information to our residents and visitors to the Poudre Canyon.

The Poudre Canyon Volunteer Fire/EMS Department serves the residents and visitors of the Poudre Canyon. The canyon is home to 750 full-time residents with a summertime population of 1,500 and is host to over 500,000 visitors annually. These visitors engage in all sorts of activities including fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, sightseeing, motorcycling, and backcountry weekend getaways at one of our mountain resorts. Many of our emergency calls are to assist these visitors. Responding to an area nearly 60 miles long, the Poudre Canyon Fire Protection District covers more than 91 square miles from Gateway Park to Cameron Pass along Colorado State Highway 14, and up to County Road 69 and County Road 68C up to and including the Shambhala Mountain Center and Ben Delatour Scout Ranch. In addition, we are the first responding agency to another 150 square miles adjacent to our district that has no emergency services.
