Our Vehicles Are Now Equipped with Wifi
Through a grant from SIPA our ambulances and main engines: 611, 621, 631 and 641 are equipped with mobile Starlink. This allows us to have wifi on scene at emergencies. Why is this important? It provides another way for us to communicate. Radios are often very spotty in the canyon and with the wifi, if the radios don't work we can use wifi calling. How can we using it? We are able to use maps to find patients, we can call between responding rigs and not tie up the radio, State Patrol can access information about participants in a motor vehicle accidents, sheriff deputies can send pictures of the scene to dispatch, UCHealth ambulance can obtain patient information, we can talk directly with a doctor for medical advice and we can send videos of fires to dispatch so other responding agencies can see what we're dealing with. It also allows patients to call friends or family and someone stuck at an accident scene can let others know they will be late.

For the grant we need to try and track how this service is being used. So we have developed a form with only two questions. We have information on cards found in our engines to be given to folks who may use our wifi. It has the name and password on it and a link to the form.
Here is the QR code to the form, you may want to bookmark it on your phone:
If you use the wifi in any way, please complete this form
